Deacon Service
Deacon Ministry
The Deacon Board serves in a variety of ways in the physical and spiritual life of the church. Constitutionally, they are called upon to:
Guard the unity of the spirit within the church within the bonds of peace
- Prepare the current job description of the pastor
- Confer with and give advice to the pastor
- With the pastor, formulate plans for the progress of the church, the areas of soul winning, development of Christians, and Kingdom growth
- Serve communion
- Participate in worship services through the Deacon of the week program
- Assist with baptismal services Initiate contact with visitors by greeting them following morning and evening worship service
- They are to maintain oversight and personal relations with the general membership in matters meeting physical and spiritual need
- These responsibilities are carried out through a program of deacon family ministry. They are to make personal contact with, and serve as a personal contact for, all members in any matter relating to the church
- In addition to staff contacts, the deacons visit their members on various occasions, especially in times of crisis and personal need.
- They serve as a point of contact when questions may arise about any aspect of church life.
- Deacons serve on each committee of the church to see that the interests of all members are served in the ongoing work of the church.
