The Deacon Board serves in a variety of ways in the physical and spiritual life of the church. Constitutionally, they are called upon to:
Guard the unity of the spirit within the church within the bonds of peace
Prepare the current job description of the pastor
Confer with and give advice to the pastor
With the pastor, formulate plans for the progress of the church, the areas of soul winning, development of Christians, and Kingdom growth
Participate in worship services through the Deacon of the week program
Assist with baptismal services. Initiate contact with visitors by greeting them following morning and evening worship service
They are to maintain oversight and personal relations with the general membership in matters meeting physical and spiritual needs
These responsibilities are carried out through a program of deacon family ministry. They are to make personal contact with, and serve as a personal contact for, all members in any matter relating to the church.
In addition to staff contacts, the deacons visit their members on various occasions, especially in times of crisis and personal need.
They serve as a point of contact when questions may arise about any aspect of church life.
Deacons serve on each committee of the church to see that the interests of all members are served in the ongoing work of the church.
