Seniors / J.O.Y. Club
Primarily a "fun" organization, the J.O.Y. Club (just older youth) is an organization for our retired or senior adults, ranging in age starting from the early 50's all the way to the 90's. We average about 45 at our meetings and meet once a month, every third Thursday, for a program and luncheon. Lunch is prepared by a committee comprised of members of the group and programs are varied between educational and entertaining. We also recognize birthdays and anniversaries during our monthly meetings. Several trips are planned each year. We are diverse in nature ranging from day trips to the zoo, Horn Creek Farm, Asheville, Aboretum and Folk Art Center, summer picnics, fall leaf sightseeing in the mountains. Overnight trips have included Camp Caswell, Myrtle Beach, Barter Theater, The Biltmore House in Asheville, a Bahamas cruise and a trip to the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. The J.O.Y. Club also provides two volunteers per week to assist the deacons in meeting family crisis situations. The J.O.Y. Club is self supporting and is led by a committee with assistance from staff as needed. The committee is comprised of eight church members plus one deacon. Anyone is welcome at our meetings.
