Clemmons First Baptist is a fellowship of Christ-followers who are committed to showing God’s love and Christ’s life example to each other, to our community, and to all the world. While we recognize and appreciate diverse perspectives amongst ourselves, we are united by our common faith in God as our Creator and Sustainer, Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit as the One who empowers us to be witnesses. We cherish the Bible as the Word of God and our ultimate authority for faith and practice. We encourage our members to read, study, and allow the Bible to form and shape us spiritually.

What We Believe
Clemmons First Baptist Church is a Christian church in the Baptist tradition. We affirm historic Baptist beliefs including soul freedom, Biblical freedom, local church autonomy, the priesthood of the believer, and religious freedom. We affirm that women and men may serve as deacons, leaders, teachers and be called into full-time Christian ministry and service. As Baptist Christians, we align ourselves with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina, and the NC Baptist State Convention as mission partners along with a host of other local entities.
As believers in historic Baptist Christian principles, Clemmons First Baptist Church affirms the 1963 Baptist Faith and Message. Click here for more info.
Our Story
Clemmons First Baptist Church traces its roots back to 1863 when a group of Baptists met under the name Muddy Creek Meeting House. After relocating to Clemmons in 1874, Muddy Creek became Clemmons Baptist Church. The foundation of our present site was laid in 1905. Several building additions and renovations have taken place in the intervening years, but the rich history remains the same. Over the many decades of our beloved community, we have established a new Family Life Center, a three-story educational facility, and a renovated sanctuary. “Resilience in the face of difficulty” is the way many members have described the church. After our beloved pastor, Rev. Scott Hammett, passed into eternal life in 2018, the congregation was filled with renewed passion for our growing community in Clemmons, North Carolina.
During Rev. Hammett's tenure, we adopted a simple slogan that sums up the spirit of Clemmons First Baptist Church: “Welcome to the Journey”.
